The Evolution of Dance
I was so excited today to come across this article in TIME for Kids online about the National Museum of Mathematics in New York City. You can read the article "Math Gone Mad" here. We were able to visit this museum over winter break and it was a math teacher's dream playground! So read the article and then take a look at the pictures I posted of my family's MoMath adventure! I was thinking we should try to recreate the life size floor maze...what do you think? It was pretty awesome!
Entrepreneur for a Day
Entrepreneur For a Day is a program offered to fifth graders across Iowa to teach them the fundamentals of starting and operating their own businesses. This exciting field trip is the culmination of a cross-curricular study of entrepreneur concepts including economics and marketing during social studies, calculation of cash flow statements in math, and the writing and sharing of business plans in language arts. The students engaged in a fun-filled day of team building and problem solving as they work together to create prototypes to "sell" and make their businesses successful. This year, we were lucky enough to have some local businesses come and share their own business adventures with the students. Who knows...a few of our future business owners of Grinnell may have just been born today!
Iowa State Capitol and Terrace Hill field trip
We had our field trip to the Iowa State Capitol building and Terrace Hill today. It was a great time! If you have any pictures you'd like me to add to the gallery above, please email them to me and I'll get them added! Can you tell who is waving waaaaay up from the dome walkway??
Check out the Grinnell-Newburg Community School District website for the school calendar, athletic events, and there's even a section just for parents. Did you know you can check your child's grades online and add money to their school lunch account all in one place?
